Health and Safety Coordinator

Review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and design programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury caused by chemical, physical, and biological agents or ergonomic factors. May conduct inspections and enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals.

  • Engage the workforce to drive cultural change and accomplish safety performance objectives and targets
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
  • Recommend measures to help protect JM Farms employees from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials
  • Recommend suspension of activities that threaten workers' health or safety
  • Investigate accidents to identify the root cause to determine how such accidents might be prevented
  • Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations
  • Collaborate with maintenance personnel to institute control or remedial measures for hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions or equipment
  • Develop or maintain hygiene programs, such as noise surveys, continuous atmosphere monitoring, and ventilation surveys plans
  • Coordinate "right-to-know" programs regarding hazardous chemicals or other substances
  • Conduct safety training or education programs and demonstrate the use of safety equipment and OSHA awareness
  • Analyze incident data to identify trends in injuries, illnesses, accidents, or other hazards
  • Maintain or update emergency response plans or procedures
  • Provide new-employee health and safety orientations and develop materials for these presentations
  • Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, or first-aid supplies
  • Work to ensure all employees are actively engaged in safely performing their work, interacting with co-workers to prevent at-risk behaviors, and coaching operations line supervisors to be effective Health and Safety leaders in their respective positions
  • Capacity to adapt to changing priorities, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and excel in a complex environment
  • Conduct safety audits to ensure safety policies and procedures are being followed and administered correctly
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are followed during OSHA or other regulatory inspections
  • Assist with HR related task
  • Performs other related duties as requested
  • Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) on the safe handling and proper use of machines and tools used for the operations
  • Adherence to Good Agricultural Practices (GAP’s) for food processing
  • Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) for food processing

MUST BE BILINGUAL (ENGLISH AND SPANISH)
