POSITION: Cashier
DEPARTMENT: Adawe Travel Plaza
REPORTS TO: Adawe Travel Plaza Manager
FLSA STATUS: Hourly/non-exempt
JOB SUMMARY:
The Cashier is responsible for providing excellent customer service, operating the cash register, restocking merchandise, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment. The cashier ensures customers have a positive shopping experience while supporting daily store operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Operate cash register and handle cash, credit, and debit transactions accurately.
- Scan items and process payments.
- Restock shelves, cooler, and displays as needed.
- Monitor inventory levels and report low stock to management.
- Maintain store cleanliness (sweeping, mopping, cleaning counters, trash, bathrooms, etc.).
- Check IDs for age-restricted purchases (alcohol, tobacco, etc.).
- Assist customers with product location and inquiries.
- Balance cash drawer at the beginning and end of shifts.
- Attend all necessary training and departmental meetings as required.
- Maintains a professional work environment with customers, management, and staff.
- Must meet the attendance guidelines of the job.
- Must adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
- Must uphold and promote a high degree of confidentiality.
- Performs all other task or duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, the requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age upon employment.
- High school diploma or its equivalent required.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
- Must have the ability to resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
- Must have the ability to deal effectively with and interact well with others.
- Must be able to work night, weekends, and holidays as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Must be able to stand, walk, or sit for long period of time.
- Must be able to lift 30lbs.
- Demonstrate physical endurance and a positive mindset while performing effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
