DEPARTMENT: Adawe Travel Plaza

REPORTS TO: Adawe Travel Plaza Manager

FLSA STATUS: Hourly/non-exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

The Cashier is responsible for providing excellent customer service, operating the cash register, restocking merchandise, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment. The cashier ensures customers have a positive shopping experience while supporting daily store operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Operate cash register and handle cash, credit, and debit transactions accurately.
  • Scan items and process payments.
  • Restock shelves, cooler, and displays as needed.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report low stock to management.
  • Maintain store cleanliness (sweeping, mopping, cleaning counters, trash, bathrooms, etc.).
  • Check IDs for age-restricted purchases (alcohol, tobacco, etc.).
  • Assist customers with product location and inquiries.
  • Balance cash drawer at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Attend all necessary training and departmental meetings as required.
  • Maintains a professional work environment with customers, management, and staff.
  • Must meet the attendance guidelines of the job.
  • Must adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
  • Must uphold and promote a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Performs all other task or duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, the requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age upon employment.
  • High school diploma or its equivalent required.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Must have the ability to deal effectively with and interact well with others.
  • Must be able to work night, weekends, and holidays as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, or sit for long period of time.
  • Must be able to lift 30lbs.
  • Demonstrate physical endurance and a positive mindset while performing effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
